Benchmarking the Quality of Chinese to English Geotourism Interpretation: the SSC Model Based on Eco-translatology

Abstract The global growth of geotourism has increased the demand and quality for interpretation. However, in its pioneer stage, interpretation much ineffective interpretation, which hinders informative purpose geotourism. Moreover, lacks a systematic evaluation model. Such model is essential to future reliable minimising This paper exams whether currently proposed SSC (Semantic, Style Cultural Equivalence) translation benchmarking purposes can effectively ensure built on three categories (ABC-Abiotic, Biotic Culture), unique principles (which are determined by objectives) theory Eco-translatology. To enhance corpus research, digital auxiliary tools, Tmxmall (2014) Sketch Engine (2003), were used. detailed was shaped through corpus-based contrastive analysis. contains total eight criteria that interpreter should follow, including four semantic equivalence: linguistic accuracy, scientific accuracy terminology, reader acceptability completeness geo-information; style logical syntax, concise syntax appropriate voice syntax. final criterion an accurate connotation cultural elements. main research findings minimise Chinese English geodata guarantee transmission data UNESCO Global Geoparks.
